Tunji Wusu –
According to the Osun State government, there are no plans to fire employees or give them half salaries.
Olawale Rasheed, a media representative for Governor Ademola Adeleke, refuted an allegation attributed to a pressure group within the Nigeria Union of Pensioners on Thursday in Osogbo.
We declare that there are no plans to fire employees and that half salaries will not be reinstated.
“The public is urged to avoid this phony news, which is being circulated.
“Governor Adeleke is accessible to meet with any parties involved in the state’s development. Since taking office, he has met with numerous groups and associations as a receptive leader.
“Numerous members of these groups, including the protesting retirees, have appointments with the governor set.
It’s crucial to remember that the government has stayed dedicated to paying its debts to employees, both active and inactive.
“However, due to a lack of funding—which is well known to all interested parties—the government is unable to pay up all back pay and pension obligations simultaneously.
The administration has established a phased payment approach, but among other things, Mr. Rasheed said, “the amount paid monthly to the pensioners has increased.”
