Otti vows to accelerate renewable energy deployment in Abia State as the Federal Government rolls out mini-grids nationwide.

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has vowed to accelerate renewable energy deployment in Abia State, working with the Federal Government to improve electricity supply.

Otti made the pledge on Thursday when officials from the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) and other federal agencies visited the Government House.

He also promised to remove operational delays and activate existing agreements with the Federal Government.

“Just watch us and see what will happen in the next 14 days,” Otti said, signalling quick action on the initiative.

Meanwhile, REA Managing Director Abba Aliyu said the Federal Government had mapped communities nationwide for rural electrification.

He added that 1,000 mini-grids were being deployed across the country.

The move comes as parts of Abia face blackouts linked to gas shortages affecting Aba Power.
