Kano State Police Command Uncovers ₦1,000 Fatherhood Video Plot

The Kano State Police Command says an elderly man in a viral video was allegedly paid ₦1,000 to falsely claim he was the biological father of Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin.

The video showed the man looking frail and unkempt while accusing Senator Barau of abandoning him.

However, the Kano State Police Command said investigators arrested a young man suspected of arranging the video to damage the senator’s reputation.

Police spokesman CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa said the elderly man admitted receiving ₦1,000 to make the claims.

Kiyawa warned that the police would prosecute those behind the alleged scheme. He also urged Nigerians to verify sensational social media content before sharing it.
