Ruth Kenneth, a female preacher in Nigeria, was detained by police for reportedly giving kidnappers in Adamawa state information on her congregation.

Kenneth, a mother of seven, calls herself a prayer warrior and offers advice to those suffering from physical and mental illnesses.

Her conversations with kidnappers, who threatened to kidnap one of her patients if he didn’t pay a N10 million ransom, were monitored by the police, who then arrested her.

In Yola, the state capital, a patient with an undisclosed illness stopped by her prayer house on Numan Road. After a prayer session, she claimed that it was revealed to her that kidnappers were after him.

The man, who requested anonymity, stated, “She told me that she had seen in a vision while praying that my name had been given to kidnappers, and that in order to avoid being kidnapped I should buy a two-year-old ram without haggling (over) its price. My children and son-in-law had taken me to her prayer house for healing.

“She claimed that in order to keep the kidnappers away from me, she required the ram for a sacrifice. She will take one of the ram’s horns, take something from its heart, and combine it with some herbs after the animal has been killed.

“That once the concoction is ready, she will bury the horn inside my property, making it impossible for any guy to harm me or my family or attack my home.

“I informed her that I had to go home and raise the money. Incredibly, four days after returning home in the first week of November 2022, I received an odd phone call from someone threatening to kidnap me along with some family members unless I pay N10 million “Added he.

Her arrest has been confirmed by the state police command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, who says “She was captured by Command personnel, and an investigation is ongoing.

“The Criminal Inquiry Department is to launch a covert investigation into the situation and guarantee that anyone found guilty is prosecuted, according to Sikiru Akande, Commissioner of Police.

He added, “The CP has also urged the public to exercise extreme caution while going about their usual business and to report any strange individuals they may encounter.
