|By Adekunle Adejumo and Awaji-Ichiem- Senior Pastor of the Dunamis International Gospel Center (DIGC), Dr. Paul Enenche, has condemned Nigerians who seek money from suspected bandits online, describing the trend as irresponsible and dangerous.
Paul Enenche condemns Nigerians seeking money from suspected bandits after reports emerged that some social media users submitted their bank account details to a handle allegedly operated by a suspected bandit in exchange for giveaways.
Speaking during a mid-week service in Abuja on Wednesday, the cleric expressed concern that some citizens were treating serious national security challenges as entertainment rather than confronting them with the seriousness they deserve.
The controversy followed reports that several internet users flooded the social media
page of a suspected criminal, requesting financial assistance and participating in an online giveaway.
Meanwhile, a viral video showed a young man claiming that he received an offer of N100,000 from the suspected bandit. However, he later alleged that the criminal demanded N100 million from him.
Addressing his congregation, Enenche argued that accepting money believed to be linked to criminal activities amounts to benefiting from the suffering of victims.
“I heard that there are people now canvassing for bandits to send them money, and you collect blood money, knowing that this money is from someone’s blood?” he said.
Furthermore, the pastor warned that public indifference to critical national issues could weaken accountability in governance.
He argued that authorities may feel emboldened when citizens fail to react seriously
to controversial decisions affecting the country.
Enenche also criticised what he described as a culture of turning significant national matters into jokes, insisting that Nigerians should demonstrate greater responsibility in addressing security and governance concerns.
