Babayubji Wusu –
The new Commissioner of Police for Rivers Command, CP Olatunji Disu, has been appointed by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun. This appointment, along with the appointments of over seven other CPs, aims to improve the efficiency of the policing system in Nigeria and strengthen security measures. The redeployments of these senior police officers have taken immediate effect. The IGP has instructed the CPs to showcase their professional competence in their new roles. CP Disu replaces CP Nwonyi Emeka in Rivers Command following protests by youths demanding Emeka’s redeployment. Disu, who was recently promoted to the rank of CP, has had a successful career in various positions within the police force, including leading the Nigeria Police Contingent to the AU Peace Keeping Mission in Sudan.
