The Imo State Police Command declared yesterday that they will apprehend those responsible for the kidnapping and murder of Eze Joe-Benz Ochulor, the traditional ruler of Otulu Amumara in the state’s Ezinihitte Mbaise Council Area, last Saturday.
Henry Okoye, the Public Relations Officer for the State Police, revealed this to reporters in Owerri.
The Command said that it would put an end to attacks on the state’s traditional rulers by apprehending the monarch’s assassins.
According to the police, “HRH Eze J. B. Ochulor, the traditional ruler of Otulu Amumara Autonomous Community in Ezinihitte-Mbaise LGA, was abducted on November 25, 2023, and later shot dead by unknown gunmen. The horrific murder has been strongly condemned by the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma.”
Attacks against traditional rulers would not be tolerated in the state, the CP firmly said during a visit to the crime scene for an on-the-spot inspection and confidence-building patrol. He promised that the command would stop at nothing to make sure the people who committed the horrible act were apprehended and punished to the full force of the law.
As a result, the CP has assembled a formidable investigative team and given them orders to pursue a thorough investigation and bring the attackers to justice. The CP asks the people to maintain composure and work with the police by offering helpful information that might help apprehend the criminals.
Following this tragic event, the CP reiterated the command’s commitment to guaranteeing the highest level of safety and security for the state’s law-abiding citizens as well as traditional rulers. He stated that the state’s violent crime and criminal elements are being eradicated by the command with unwavering determination.
