Governor Nyesom Wike of River State revealed yesterday that members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Oyo State will soon be informed who to vote for in the presidential election, contrary to expectations that the G-5 governors would do so in Ibadan.
Wike urged residents of the state to vote for all candidates running for various seats in the general elections on the party platform at the official campaign flag-off of Governor Seyi Makinde, which was held at the historic Mapo in Ibadan.
He characterized Governor Makinde as fearless and said that he had done well to earn a second term.
His words: “Governor ‘Seyi Makinde has done well, the only way is for him to go back to complete the good work he has started.
“Vote for Governor Seyi Makinde, vote for all the candidates on the party platform, but Seyi Makinde will tell you who the other one is.
“We believe in justice, fairness, honesty and equity, hence our reason for urging you to support the just governor God has given you in Oyo State. Makinde has done well since 2019, and the only way we can show our appreciation is to return him to the government so that he can finish the good works he has begun.”
G5 leaders remain silent on Atiku.
Similarly, other G5 members praised PDP members for their support of Governor Makinde, describing him as a vibrant leader with the ability to propel the state to enviable heights.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State described Makinde as the G5’s youth leader in his remarks.
He stated that what the state’s people will see in the next four years will be greater than what the governor has done in his first four years.
It’s finally time for Omititun 2.0—Makinde.
Governor Makinde urged the people of the state to vote for him again so that he could finish the good projects he started in 2019.
In his own words, “Under Omititun 1.0, we promised and delivered on Emmanuel Alayande University, we secured full ownership of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, we carried out road rehabilitation and reconstruction across the state, and we have delivered but we are not stopping.
“By introducing Amotekun, we raised the bar for security, health, and education under Omititun 1.0. We also developed agriculture and addressed a number of other issues. Arrears on employee salaries and pension payments, among many others, are paid as and when due.
“Omititun 2.0 should now be updated. Therefore, I’m asking for your help to help me win re-election so I can finish the worthwhile projects I started in 2019.
Wike should seek medical attention, according to the Atiku-Okowa Campaign.
Meanwhile, an aide to the PDP presidential candidate, Phrank Shaibu, urged Governor Wike yesterday to seek medical attention if he wants to continue hobnobbing with the APC against the wishes of his Rivers State constituents.
“Already, the so-called strongman of Rivers politics is appearing emaciated by the day as he continues to work for the success of a sick and ‘cancerous’ party,” said Phrank Shaibu, Atiku Abubakar’s Special Assistant on Public Communication.
“It is not only unpatriotic, but also tendentiously wicked of Wike to enter into a deal to promote a candidate whose mental and physical abilities are questionable.
“His inability to sell Tinubu, a man who is yet to explain his role in the celebrated heroin trafficking case that led to the curious forfeiture of $460,000 to the American government in Rivers State has continued to give him sleepless nights but there is more pain for Wike in the coming days.
“The loud and repeated chants of ‘Atiku’ at the PDP rally organised by Governor Seyi Makinde in Ibadan where all the G5 governors were present should serve as a wakeup call to the rebel governors. The people are clearly not on their side.
“It is time for Governor Makinde to wake up and smell the coffee. A moving train can overcome any obstacle.”
