Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for president, stated on Tuesday that his administration is dedicated to addressing the country’s heavy reliance on raw material exports, which has plagued it for years. He called this dependence a “disease” that must be treated right away.
At an interactive session with participants from the commercial sector held at the Eko Hotels in Victoria Island, Tinubu made this pledge.
Speaking at the event, which also featured his running mate, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, and several APC governors, including the host, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Gbeyega Oyetotola (Osun), Malam Nadir El- Rufai (Kaduna), and Abdulrahman Abdulrazak (Kwara), among others, Tinubu said he was determined to reverse the trend because, in his opinion, the money made from
“Our economy is overly reliant on the export of raw materials, which is not enough to support it. The moment to treat this illness is right now, he declared.
The APC presidential candidate stated that his administration was dedicated to achieving a minimum of 6% GDP growth, on an annual basis. He noted that his personal experience in the private sector and government, while serving as governor of Lagos, would be deployed to bring about the industrial revolution in the nation if elected president in 2023.
Assuring the private sector of a strong partnership, promising to support agriculture and put enough food on the tables of ordinary Nigerians, the APC presidential candidate said he was also determined to make sure that his administration provided affordable electricity in a way to support the country’s industrial growth.
“We must strive for a win-win outcome. In order to promote the industrial development of the nation, I am adamant about providing you with affordable power.
“We must produce; it is not an option. We are capable of bringing electricity supplies. Among other things, we have the sun and the gas, he remarked.
