Flooding has claimed the lives of a family of six in Anambra State’s Anambra East Local Government Area.
According to information obtained by Tribune Online, the tragedy occurred in the Nzam village, and the family perished after their home was inundated by floodwaters.
Youths from the neighborhood were seen removing corpses from their home and dumping them in an upland area in a viral video.
The bodies included a mom, her four children, and her sister, according to the viral footage.
Before being carried away by the river, the family was reportedly preparing to go for a safe location, according to the video’s narrator.
The latest flood has been particularly hard on Anambra and Kogi State.
A father who had safely evacuated his family from the flood and decided to stay back to take care of the neighborhood was recently drowned in his sleep in the same Ogbaru, where about 81 people had lost their lives in two boat incidents just last week.
In a press conference, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) announced that it has started employing helicopters for overhead surveillance to rescue trapped inhabitants of flooded areas.
