The 25 newly elected local government council chairmen in Niger State were sworn in by Governor Abubakar Bello, who urged them to take leadership seriously and improve the lives of those at the local level.

The Chief Judge, who was represented by Justice Zainab Sadat of State High Court V, administered the oath of office during the swearing-in event, which was held at the Government House in Minna, the state capital.

The governor praised the chairmen and declared that following the will of the people is sacred.

“As you are all aware, local government councils are without a doubt the level of government that is most accessible to the general populace. As a result, if there is no functional leadership at the local government level, a greater number of people cannot be affected by government policies.

Particularly when the general elections get near, he continued, “One thing that remains sacred is the reality that we have a responsibility to deliver on our mandate to the people.”

In order to improve security in their respective local government areas, Governor Sani Bello asked the local government chairmen to develop innovative information-gathering tactics.
