The “Operation Harmony Tactical Team” received 10 new patrol vehicles from the Kwara state government on Monday. Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq said the donation will help to improve the protection of people and property and foster confidence among the business community.
The tactical team is an integrated security group that reports to the Nigeria Police’s state headquarters.
Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor’s chief press secretary, said in a statement that this is the third time the administration has provided operable vehicles to the police to bolster security in the state.
It has at various points provided police vehicles to other security services.
The governor added, “We are assisting our security services by giving them additional equipment to make their tasks simpler,” during a quick ceremony in Ilorin to hand over the vehicles to State Police Commissioner Paul Odama. As you can see, the nation’s security situation is getting better every day. That’s how we want it to stay.
Abdulrazaq applauded Kwara state’s police and other security forces for their valor in making it one of Nigeria’s safest states.
Possibly the safest state in Nigeria is Kwara. By making sure that the citizens are protected, we are trying our best to keep it that way. And one of the things we must do is to continue to assist our security agencies. I appreciate everything they have been doing to make it possible for us to go to bed at night and close our eyes. We sincerely appreciate your efforts, he remarked.
On his part, Odama expressed gratitude to the governor for always attending to their operational demands and made a commitment to uphold his obligations to the state government and its residents.
“I am so appreciative that the governor of Kwara state gave us these cars, Your Excellency. Kwara state is currently one of the most tranquil states in the nation, as you correctly noted. And we need to maintain and even strengthen that position,” he continued.
He also expressed his gratitude to IGP Alkali Baba Usman for playing a crucial role in this matter and ensuring that the entire nation was adequately policed.
Several cabinet members and party officials, including the Secretary to the State Government Prof. Mamman Saba Jubril, the Senior Special Assistant on Security Aliyu Muyideen, and the State APC Chairman Sunday Fagbemi, attended the occasion.
