President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, following the resignation of Yusuf Tuggar, who stepped down to contest in the 2027 elections.

Odumegwu-Ojukwu previously served as Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In a statement, presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga said the President also nominated Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, subject to Senate confirmation.

Enikanolaiye, who is from Kogi State, served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations before his nomination.

According to the statement, he is a career diplomat with more than three decades of service in Nigeria’s foreign service. He has held positions including Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and has served in diplomatic missions in Addis Ababa, Belgrade, Ottawa, London and New Delhi.

The presidency said the appointments form part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s foreign policy framework, enhance international engagement and promote strategic partnerships.

President Tinubu congratulated the appointees and urged them to promote Nigeria’s national interests, advance economic diplomacy, support regional stability and protect the welfare of Nigerians at home and abroad.
