Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has threatened legal action against bloggers, social media users and media platforms over the alleged spread of false and defamatory stories about her.
Her lawyers issued a cease-and-desist notice dated November 5, 2026, warning individuals and content creators to stop publishing or circulating unverified claims about the actress.
The notice, signed by her lawyer, Tope Salami, described the publications as misleading and potentially damaging to Abraham’s reputation, professional image and business interests.
Abraham shared the legal notice on her X account on Thursday and urged members of the public to read it carefully.
Her lawyers demanded that those responsible immediately stop publishing, reposting or endorsing the alleged defamatory statements.
They also called for the removal of existing posts, videos, comments and other online materials containing the disputed claims.
Furthermore, the legal representatives warned against creating or promoting fabricated allegations or content intended to ridicule, harass or damage the actress’s reputation.
The notice stated that individuals who continued spreading the claims after receiving the warning could face legal proceedings.
It also warned that relevant social media posts, videos, comments and digital publications could be preserved as evidence for possible court action.
Salami added that freedom of expression did not give anyone the right to spread false information or unlawfully damage another person’s reputation.
The legal warning comes amid renewed online discussions involving Abraham and fellow Nollywood actress Funke Akindele.
In October 2026, an alleged private audio conversation involving Abraham and a TikTok user identified as Bisgold circulated online.
The recording sparked reactions over comments reportedly made about Akindele. However, its authenticity and full context have not been independently established.
Abraham’s lawyers urged the public to verify information before publishing or sharing claims about the actress.
They also called for restraint and encouraged media platforms and content creators to ensure that their reports rely on factual and verifiable information.
