Music executive Ubi Franklin has strongly refuted claims that he stole a luxury wristwatch during a recent trip to Miami, United States, for singer Davido’s wedding.

The allegation surfaced on social media on Wednesday after a blog report linked Franklin to the purported theft.

Reacting in a statement on his X account, Franklin described the accusation as “completely false and misleading,” stressing that the incident had been blown out of proportion.

He explained that while in Miami, he was approached by an individual identified as Benny, who offered to sell him a wristwatch. Franklin said he declined after confirming its previous ownership to avoid potential complications.

“During the wedding church service, Benny sent his brother to deliver another wristwatch, which I purchased and paid for in full,” Franklin wrote. “Given the busy circumstances surrounding the wedding, I temporarily had both watches in my possession and wore the one I bought.”

According to him, he left Miami immediately after the wedding to prepare for his sister’s funeral this weekend. He claimed Benny later reached out regarding the first wristwatch while he was airborne, but insisted he never took it unlawfully.

“I want to state clearly: I am not a thief. I have never stolen from anyone in my life,” Franklin stated, noting that Benny himself had publicly dismissed the rumour earlier in the day.

Despite this, Franklin lamented that the false report continued to spread across social media.
