Rivers United forward Ubong Friday has voiced strong confidence in his team’s chances as they gear up to confront defending champions Pyramids FC in their opening CAF Champions League group-stage match.
The Pride of Rivers will battle the North African giants on Saturday at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo, a venue known for its intimidating atmosphere. But Friday insists Rivers United are unfazed and ready to fight.
He affirmed that the squad has what it takes to shock their hosts.
“We can upset them by going all out here in Cairo with everything we have,” Friday told Sportlight Hub. “We understand the importance of this game and why we are here. We are here to do what we know how to do best.”
Friday added that the team’s qualification to the group stage has strengthened their resolve to push further.
“We played ourselves into the group stage, and we’re determined to play ourselves into the next stage as well,” he said.
Rivers United are seeking a strong start as they continue their quest for continental glory.
