Arsenal Target Crucial North London Derby Win as Title Rivals Slip

Arsenal head into Sunday’s North London Derby with a clear mission: secure maximum points and tighten their grip on the Premier League summit after major slip-ups from their title rivals on Saturday.

Liverpool suffered a shocking 3–0 defeat at Anfield to relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest, while Manchester City failed to close the gap on the Gunners after crashing 2–1 at Newcastle. Chelsea, however, revived their chase with a routine 2–0 win at Burnley, moving within six points of Arsenal.

With the title race tightening, Mikel Arteta is expected to hammer home the importance of victory, especially as Arsenal brace for a demanding run of fixtures.

Arsenal dropped points last weekend after Brian Brobbey snatched a late equaliser for Sunderland, but City and Liverpool’s stumbles now offer Arteta’s men a prime opportunity to pull away at the top.

However, Tottenham pose a formidable challenge. Spurs remain unbeaten away from home this season and have collected 13 of a possible 15 points on the road under Thomas Frank, who has steadied the team impressively.

Despite Spurs’ resilience, recent history favours Arsenal. Since Tottenham’s 2022 home win, the Gunners have claimed five of the last six derbies and now stand on the brink of winning four straight North London Derbies for the first time in Premier League history.
