UNICAL SUSPENDS PROF. CYRIL NDIFON AFTER HE WAS ACCUSED OF SEXUALLY HARASSING FEMALE LAW STUDENTS.

Prof. Florence Obi, Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar (UNICAL), has suspended and dismissed Prof. Cyril Ndifon of his post as Dean of the Faculty of Law.

He has also been forbidden from approaching the university’s campus unless invited by the panel that will be formed to investigate different allegations of sexual assault against female students.

The suspension notification was delivered in a letter dated August 17, 2023, and signed by the university’s registrar, Gabriel Egbe. According to the letter, he was suspended for alleged violations of the institution’s existing laws and procedures.

Prof Ndifon, the state’s first law professor, was previously suspended by the school in 2015 for a similar allegation of sexually assaulting female pupils.

Female law students carried posters and demonstrated on campus a few days ago, calling for Ndifon’s resignation.
