Two pupils were shot by three Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officers who were deployed to provide security during an ongoing exam at the Senior Secondary School, Life Camp, in the Federal Capital Territory’s Jabi and Gwarinpa neighborhoods.
The two pupils were shot on Wednesday at approximately 11:20 a.m. by NSCDC staff who are affiliated with the FCT Command of the NSCDC.
Three NSCDC patrol cars were vandalized after the shooting by some irate high school students in retaliation for the attack on their injured coworkers.
PUNCH reports that the three NSCDC agents have been taken into custody by the Nigerian Police, and the two students who were shot are presently being treated at Gwarinpa Hospital.
The Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba, has ordered an investigation into the event, according to FCT Police spokesman Josephine Adeh, who confirmed the occurrence. The police have also restored tranquility in the affected area.
Adeh declared, “The incident occurred, but our agents moved quickly to reestablish law and order, and things are now quiet around here. An investigation into the incident has been requested by the CP, Haruna Garba, and two injured students are presently undergoing treatment.
In reaction to the event, Comfort Okomanyi, the FCT NSCDC spokesman, stated that she was ill and will provide an update on the matter upon further investigation.
