Babatunji Wusu –
Nigerian youngsters have received assurances from Dr. Yusuf Sununu, Minister of State for Education, that the student loan scheme won’t be impacted by “who you know.”
Sununu assured students that the procedures for submitting a loan application will be accessible online.
In an interview with Arise News on Wednesday, he made this declaration.
According to Sununu, a committee appointed by the federal government has been tasked with addressing all loan-related obstacles and devising universally agreeable loan access procedures.
“The student loan bill was previously signed by the National Assembly when the President took office. Additionally, the President approved it as soon as he took office.
“Once an Act is passed, a framework is introduced to help with policy formulation that will aid in the Act’s implementation. Not every issue can be fully addressed by the Act. It needs to provide a space where administrators can step in and create a policy that is based on the Act.
“The next step is to make sure the Act is put into effect after it has been enacted by presenting a budget line that will be utilized to pay for the loan to the National Assembly. We’ll create a structure that Nigerians can live with.
“Nigerians will get all the information and can start applying for loans; the loan amount will also be decided.” The policy statement that the committee is drafting will include all of these. He stated that the committee is putting up great effort to develop policies that will be supported by all Nigerians.
