Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has thrown his weight behind the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship candidate, Christopher Maikalangu, ahead of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) election slated for February 21, 2026.

Wike, speaking at the flag-off of an access road construction linking Bill Clinton Drive to Tunga Madaki settlement—complete with a four-span bridge—praised Maikalangu’s role in pushing key projects across the capital.

The minister urged residents to reward Maikalangu’s contributions with re-election, stressing that his persistence brought Tunga Madaki’s long-standing demand for development to the front burner.

“One good turn deserves another. You have had chairmen before, but none remembered Tunga Madaki. Now you have a son who never stops reminding me of your needs. He has pressed tirelessly to ensure your voices reached the President,” Wike said.

He assured the community that President Bola Tinubu would inaugurate the new road by June 2026 if Maikalangu secures another term. “When that happens, you will know who stood by you. Those who had nothing to offer should not come now to seek your votes,” he added.

Maikalangu, the incumbent AMAC chairman, is seeking a second term in office under the APC platform.
