Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola has fired back at veteran movie director Afeez Owo for comparing her with his wife, actress Mide Martins, during an interview.

Owo, speaking on the African A-List podcast, had drawn a sharp contrast between the two actresses’ personalities. He claimed Mide’s calmness in real life differs from her fiery movie roles, while Wumi’s “violent” screen characters reflect her true nature.
“Violence is her comfort zone,” Owo said, adding that Toriola reacts when provoked and does not tolerate nonsense.

The remarks did not sit well with Wumi. In a now-deleted Instagram video, she blasted the director, describing his comments as “rubbish.”
“Must every rift be taken to podcasts? They gave you a mic, and you started saying rubbish. After they entertained you with pepper soup, you started blabbing,” she fumed.

Wumi further questioned why she was portrayed as hot-tempered, stressing that her reactions only come when provoked.
“Am I a mad woman? If people don’t offend me, will I be angry? I have never insulted you before. I still respect you despite your unfortunate behaviour,” she said.

Both Wumi Toriola and Mide Martins are popular for playing strong-willed, hot-tempered roles on screen, but this clash has now spilled beyond fiction into real-life drama.
