YORUBAS ARE NOT NATIVE TO ILE-IFE – OLUWO OF IWOLAND.

Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwoland, has stated that the Yorubas are not originally from Ile-Ife, Osun State.

The monarch urged historians working on the study of the Yoruba ancestral home to be objective in their research and documentation in a statement issued on Monday, October 16.

“Yorubas are naturally descended from greatness,” he claims. Humanity began with us. We are the descendants of Lamurudu, the first powerful man to construct the tallest structure.

Our heritage extends beyond Oduduwa and Ile-Ife. Limiting our history to the duo is akin to denying our forefathers significant accomplishments and achievements in the past.

Professors of Yorubas, I implore you to conduct research into the creation and originality of Oduduwa. We must objectively determine his ancestry and place of birth. Before settling in Ile-Ife, he traveled from elsewhere. It is implied by this that Yorubas are not native to Ile-Ife.
