The Police Service Commission (PSC) has promoted the Federal Capital Territory Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), alongside thousands of other officers elevated in the latest promotion exercise.
Adeh was among 245 Superintendents of Police (SPs) approved for promotion to the rank of CSP by the commission during its plenary meeting held in Abuja on Thursday, October 29, 2026.
The promotion recognises her progression within the Nigeria Police Force, where she serves as the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, responsible for communicating police activities, providing updates on security operations and engaging with the media on behalf of the command.
Her elevation forms part of a wider promotion exercise approved by the PSC, covering officers across several ranks, including Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs), Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs), Commissioners of Police (CPs) and other senior and junior officers.
According to reports, the commission approved the elevation of two AIGs to DIGs, 10 CPs to AIGs and 17 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) to CPs. It also approved promotions across other ranks, including 49 CSPs to Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), 85 ACPs to DCPs, 498 DSPs to SPs and 3,218 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) to Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs).
The exercise followed promotion examinations and oral interviews conducted by the commission, which is responsible for appointments and promotions within the Nigeria Police Force, subject to its statutory mandate.
The PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (retd.), congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to regard their elevation as a call to greater responsibility, professionalism and dedication to the protection of lives and property.
He emphasised the need for the officers to justify their new ranks through improved service delivery and commitment to their constitutional responsibilities.
Adeh’s promotion comes as the FCT Police Command continues to engage residents and the media on security developments across Abuja and its surrounding communities.
As the command’s spokesperson, she plays a key role in disseminating official information, clarifying police positions on security-related matters and keeping the public informed about operational activities.
The latest promotion exercise marks another stage in the careers of the officers affected, with the commission expecting the newly elevated personnel to demonstrate greater commitment to duty and the maintenance of law and order.
