The Action Democratic Party (ADP) has concluded its town hall meeting in Port Harcourt Local Government Area as part of its grassroots engagement across Rivers State.
The meeting, organised by Team GoAngel, brought residents and stakeholders together to discuss development priorities and challenges facing the state capital.
Broadcast journalist Adekunle Adejumo of ACE Broadcast moderated the discussion.
Participants examined issues including unemployment, poverty, urban development, transportation, electricity, healthcare, education and environmental sustainability.
The ADP governorship candidate, Angel Lawson, said the party’s development agenda focuses on transforming Port Harcourt into a modern and competitive African city.
The proposed nine-point agenda covers:
Job creation and poverty reduction.
Smart city development and urban renewal.
Transportation, metro rail and road infrastructure.
Electricity, clean water and environmental protection.
Healthcare, education and skills development.
Digital technology and entrepreneurship.
Economic empowerment for young people and women.
Security, housing and community development.
Tourism, culture and investment opportunities.
The party also identified strategic investments and public-private partnerships as key components of its proposed development plan.
According to the organisers, the town hall meeting forms part of a wider grassroots engagement programme covering 23 local government areas in Rivers State over 23 days
The organisers thanked residents and other participants for contributing to the discussions. They also acknowledged Adejumo for moderating the engagement.
Lawson said the party’s vision was to ensure that development reflects the needs and priorities of residents.
The ADP said it would continue its engagement across Rivers State as it presents its development proposals to communities.
