On Tuesday, President Muhammadu Buhari will leave for Senegal to attend the second Dakar International Conference on Agriculture.

Following the commissioning of the Lekki Deal Sea Port, a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project involving the Federal and Lagos State governments, a private business, Tolaram, and the President, this will take place.

He will also inaugurate the 18.75-kilometer, 6-lane rigid-pavement Eleko Junction to Epe Expressway as well as the largest rice mill in the world, the 32-metric-ton-per-hour Lagos Rice Mill.

Prior to his journey to Dakar, President Buhari is also scheduled to formally open the John Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History on Tuesday and the first section of the famous Blue Line.

The theme of the high-level Dakar 2 Summit, which is being hosted by President Macky Sall of Senegal and the African Union Chairperson, is “Feeding Africa: Food Sovereignty and Resilience.”

The African Development Bank and the Senegalese government are hosting the conference, which aims to foster the conditions necessary for achieving food security in Africa.

Aside discussions will also be held to talk about arrangements for the distribution of food and agricultural products in several nations, notably Nigeria.

The Summit, which will be attended by African Heads of State and Government, Ministers of Finance and Agriculture, as well as several international development partners, is expected to make commitments on eradicating hunger in Africa by 2030. Africa is home to 249 million, or one-third of the world’s 828 million hungry people.

Ministers and senior government officials make up the President’s delegation, which includes Geoffrey Onyeama, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohammad Mahmood Abubakar, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mohammed Babagana Monguno, the National Security Adviser, and Ambassador Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).

On Wednesday, January 25, President Buhari is anticipated to return to the country.
