A driver narrowly escaped death on Monday morning when a 40-foot container fell onto a Toyota Camry (registration number LSR 293 HJ) at Mile 2, en route to Apapa Ports, Lagos. The accident occurred around 8 a.m., with the container landing on the vehicle.
Thanks to the swift and coordinated efforts of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the driver was promptly rescued and rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
Security was managed by officers from the Kirikiri Police Division, ensuring the scene was secure for emergency responders. The Toyota Camry was successfully extricated from under the fallen container.
By 9:30 a.m., efforts to clear the container were underway, with LASTMA officers on the scene working to ease traffic and restore normalcy.
LASTMA’s General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, emphasized the importance of properly securing containers, warning that negligence could lead to devastating consequences.
