EFL League Two club Newport County has unveiled its away jersey for the 2025-26 season, created in collaboration with La Liga’s Athletic Bilbao. This special kit pays tribute to the enduring friendship, humanity, and generosity shared between the two clubs, dating back nearly a century.

The red and white design draws inspiration from Athletic Bilbao and honors the Basque children evacuated from Bilbao to Britain during the Spanish Civil War in 1937. Of those children, 56 found refuge in Newport, many of whom have since settled permanently and raised families, becoming valued members of the local community.

Newport County’s creative director Neal Heard spearheaded the design and collaboration, ensuring the jersey reflects this powerful historical connection.

The club’s League Two campaign begins with a home game against Notts County on August 2, followed by its first away match at Crawley Town on August 9.
