A passenger, Comfort Emmanson, who allegedly assaulted airline officials aboard an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos, has been charged to court and remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre.
The Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Tunde Moshood, confirmed the development on Monday via a post on X, stating that Emmanson’s case marks a firm step towards curbing unruly behaviour on Nigerian flights.
Moshood’s announcement came just hours after the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) warned that it would ramp up enforcement measures as cases of passenger misconduct continue to rise in the nation’s airports.
The incident follows closely on the heels of another controversy involving Fuji music star King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (popularly known as KWAM 1 or K1), who recently attempted to prevent a ValueJet aircraft from departing after being deboarded.
Aviation authorities have stressed that such actions threaten flight safety and will attract stiff legal consequences.
