The management of Federal Polytechnic Bauchi has ordered an immediate shutdown of the institution after suspected robbers invaded the male student hostel on Monday night.

During the attack, two students were reportedly injured, while several valuables — including smartphones and laptops — were stolen.

The incident provoked outrage among students, who gathered at the institution’s main gate on Tuesday morning to protest and demand urgent intervention from authorities.

Kasimu Salisu, the Registrar of the Polytechnic, noted that while the protest started peacefully, it was later hijacked by suspected troublemakers. The institution’s leadership met with the aggrieved students to condemn the violence at the hostel.

To prevent further escalation, the management suspended all academic activities and gave students two hours to vacate the campus. Salisu described the event as “disturbing and unacceptable,” adding that the closure would remain in effect until further notice.
