Veteran Nollywood actor turned politician, Kenneth Okonkwo, has debunked claims of a rift with the 2027 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Okonkwo made the clarification on Friday while featuring as a guest on Sunrise Daily, a Channels Television programme.

The actor-turned-politician stressed that his political choices are guided by party loyalty and not personal grievances.

“Whoever wins the election of ADC in the presidential primary, I will support. I don’t have any personal problem with my brother, Peter Obi,” Okonkwo said.

He explained that his relationship with Obi began within the Labour Party, but with the political shift, fresh alignments are inevitable.

“Like I have told you, I met Peter Obi in Labour Party. So if the Labour Party that was the foundation of our relationship is no longer there, going forth will be a new arrangement, and you have the right to decide what to do,” he added.

Okonkwo’s remarks come amid speculations of strained relations between him and Obi following his move to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
