Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has applauded Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, for defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the switch as a major boost for the ruling party in the Southeast.

Mbah, who was elected on the PDP platform during the 2023 general elections, officially announced his defection to the APC on Tuesday, explaining that the move was aimed at aligning Enugu with the federal government’s development agenda for accelerated growth.

Reacting to the development in a post on X (formerly Twitter), Keyamo praised the governor’s decision, saying the APC was a “natural home” for his vision and leadership style.

“When I came to Enugu a few months ago to launch Enugu Air, I said it would be a miracle for anyone to beat you in future elections,” Keyamo stated. “Thank God you’ve now joined forces with President Bola Tinubu to deepen progress and unity in Enugu and the Southeast.”

The minister further hailed Mbah’s governance record, describing him as the “undisputed leader of Enugu APC.” He expressed confidence that the defection would consolidate the governor’s political base and strengthen the party’s presence in the region.
