A former Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Robinson Ewor, has accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of mismanaging public funds, alleging that the state is operating without an approved budget for the 2026 fiscal year.

Ewor made the allegation on Wednesday during a “thank you” visit by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to Ahoada East Local Government Area. He claimed that governance in the state has stalled due to a breakdown in collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of government.

According to Ewor, the absence of a duly passed appropriation law renders all government spending illegal. He stressed that constitutional governance requires synergy among the executive, legislature, and judiciary to deliver meaningful dividends of democracy to the people.

“As we speak, Rivers State has no budget for 2026. Every expenditure from January 1 going forward amounts to illegal spending,” he said.

The PDP chieftain warned that continued financial activities without legislative approval undermine transparency and accountability in government. He urged the state administration to communicate openly with residents and disclose the true state of affairs.

Ewor advised the government to embrace transparency by engaging the public honestly, saying leaders owe citizens clear explanations of their actions and decisions.
