The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, played host to a high-powered delegation from the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) on Thursday during a courtesy visit to the Force Headquarters in Abuja. The meeting, which aimed to strengthen the bond between the police and the public, underscored the administration’s commitment to community-oriented policing as a pillar of national security.
The PCRC delegation was led by its National Chairman, Alhaji Mogaji Ibraheem Olaniyan, and included members of the National Executive Committee alongside representatives from several regional commands. During his remarks, Olaniyan formally congratulated IGP Disu on his recent appointment, reaffirming the committee’s unwavering loyalty and support for the Nigeria Police Force. He lauded the Inspector-General for his consistent efforts in recognizing the strategic role that the PCRC plays in intelligence gathering and grassroots safety.
In his response, IGP Disu expressed deep appreciation for the sustained partnership, describing the PCRC as a vital bridge between the Force and the Nigerian people. However, he issued a stern charge to the committee’s leadership, emphasizing the need for strict oversight regarding the use of PCRC identification. The Inspector-General insisted that such credentials must be used exclusively for legitimate purposes and intelligence operations, warning that the integrity of the partnership depends on members remaining exemplary citizens within their communities.
The engagement concluded with a mutual pledge to deepen collaborative security efforts nationwide. By fostering these ties, the Nigeria Police Force aims to build a more transparent and effective security architecture that relies on mutual trust and local cooperation.
