A local defence firm, Terra Industries, has launched a new line of advanced hardware to help fight crime and insurgency. These military hardware tools include high-tech interceptor drones and special vehicles designed to clear dangerous landmines. The company officially revealed these systems on Monday, marking a major change in its business. While they previously focused on making civilian drones, they are now creating powerful equipment specifically for the battlefield.
For nearly two decades, Nigeria has struggled with security challenges and attacks on soldiers. Recently, armed groups have started using more improvised explosive devices and their own drone technology. This has made the situation much more dangerous for troops on the ground. During the launch, the Chief Executive Officer of Terra Industries, Nathan Nwachukwu, explained what the new gear can do. “We are unveiling new defence systems such as our interceptor UAVs, our minesweepers, ground vehicles that can detect IEDs on the ground, and our battlefield intelligence software.”
These military hardware tools are getting a lot of support from the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria. The government agency is working with the firm to produce and deploy these tools as quickly as possible. Major General Babatunde Alaya noted that these innovations are needed right away to save lives. He pointed out that many soldiers have been hurt by explosives in conflict zones lately. By using these military hardware tools, the army hopes to stay ahead of the insurgents and keep the country safe. This partnership shows a strong commitment to using local technology to solve national security problems.
Will the use of locally-made drones be the turning point in ending the long-running insurgency?
