The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced major operational successes recorded across the country in April 2026 as part of ongoing efforts to tackle crime and improve national security.
Under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, police tactical and investigative teams carried out several coordinated operations targeting criminal groups and violent offenders. The operations led to the arrest of 28 suspected terrorists, 85 suspected kidnappers, 62 armed robbery suspects, 51 murder and culpable homicide suspects, as well as 54 suspected cultists.
Force spokesman, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, disclosed that officers also rescued 189 kidnapped victims from different hideouts and captivity locations across Nigeria during the operations.

According to the statement, the police recovered 140 assorted firearms, 1,074 rounds of ammunition, and 37 stolen vehicles linked to criminal activities. The achievements, the Force noted, highlight the growing success of intelligence-led policing and stronger cooperation among security agencies.
Speaking on the development, the Inspector-General of Police praised officers involved in the operations for their dedication, professionalism, and resilience. He stated that the results show the effectiveness of modern policing strategies in dealing with evolving security challenges nationwide.
The police leadership also reassured Nigerians that the Force remains committed to dismantling criminal networks, protecting lives and property, and promoting a more accountable and people-focused police system.
The Nigeria Police Force further urged citizens to support security agencies by providing useful and timely information, stressing that national security requires collective effort from both the government and the public.
