|By Chinwendu Nwani – Peter Obi move to NDC is not his final destination, according to a factional National Vice Chairman (South West) of the Labour Party, Dr Abayomi Arabambi.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television, Arabambi argued that the former Anambra State governor could still face political challenges despite emerging as the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 general election.
Arabambi claimed that Peter Obi move to NDC came after a period of political disagreement within the Labour Party. He said Obi should not expect to leave the party’s internal disputes behind simply by joining another platform.
According to him, political actors who remain within the Labour Party structure may resist Obi’s actions and challenge his influence in the political space.
He also argued that no politician can secure broad national support without addressing key issues affecting Nigerians. These, he said, include governance, accountability and the fight against corruption.
Furthermore, Arabambi stressed that the outcome of any presidential election ultimately depends on voters.
“Peter Obi’s move to the NDC is not his final destination. If he believes he has found a safe haven after destabilising the Labour Party, political realities may soon catch up with him,” he said.
However, he added that Nigerians would make the final decision at the ballot box, insisting that no candidate can become president without convincing voters on critical national issues.
The remarks come as discussions continue over Peter Obi move to NDC and its potential impact on Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the next general election.
