The Department of State Services (DSS) and forest guards in Borno State have intercepted a large cache of medical supplies allegedly being transported to members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

The operation took place in Kaga Local Government Area following intelligence-led efforts to track and disrupt insurgent logistics networks operating across forest corridors in the North-East.

According to security sources quoted by Zagazola Makama, the seized materials included painkillers, anti-malaria injections, antibiotics and other pharmaceutical products believed to be intended for insurgents operating in remote camps.

Authorities said the interception forms part of ongoing measures to dismantle terrorist support structures and prevent supplies from reaching armed groups. Investigators believe the items were being moved through concealed routes frequently used to evade security surveillance.

The ISWAP logistics network has come under increasing pressure in recent weeks following intensified intelligence-driven operations by Nigerian security forces and partners. Security sources indicated that the intercepted consignment was allegedly meant to replenish fighters affected by recent counter-terrorism operations that disrupted insurgent activities and logistics channels.

Officials noted that the movement of medical supplies and other consumables remains a critical component of sustaining operations within terrorist enclaves. As a result, security agencies have continued to focus on identifying and blocking supply routes across vulnerable locations in the region.

While full operational details were not disclosed, authorities described the interception as another significant step in efforts to weaken the ISWAP logistics network and restrict the group’s access to essential resources.

The recovered items have been placed under security custody for forensic analysis and further investigation. Meanwhile, security operatives are expected to expand surveillance and intelligence gathering aimed at uncovering individuals and networks linked to the alleged supply operation.

The latest development underscores the sustained campaign against insurgent activities and the determination of security agencies to disrupt support systems that enable terrorist groups to operate.
