Madagascar vs Nigeria 2027 AFCON qualifier in Uyo

Madagascar vs Nigeria will open the two teams’ 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign on Friday, with Barea head coach Corentin Martins saying his players are ready for the contest.

Madagascar will face Nigeria’s Super Eagles at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

Martins says his team has prepared for the challenge and will approach the match ready to compete.

The fixture marks the start of the qualifying race for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. Both teams will be looking to begin the campaign with a positive result.

Nigeria have a stronger record in previous meetings between the two sides. However, Madagascar have also secured a win against the Super Eagles.

The Barea have won one of their five previous encounters with Nigeria.

For Martins, the focus is now on the players and their preparation ahead of Friday’s match.

Nigeria will host the opening fixture in Uyo, where the Super Eagles will seek to use home advantage to begin their qualifying campaign with three points.

However, Madagascar will aim to challenge that plan and build on their previous victory over Nigeria.

The Madagascar vs Nigeria fixture is therefore expected to provide an early test for both teams as they begin their route towards the 2027 tournament.

The match will take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Friday.
