A faction of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, led by Dumebi Kachikwu, is set to hold its national convention in Abuja on Sunday as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The faction’s Acting National Chairman, Kingsley Temitope Ogah, announced the convention in a statement issued on Sunday.
According to the statement, the gathering will bring together party leaders, delegates, state executives, youth and women representatives, as well as political stakeholders from across the country.
Ogah said the convention forms part of the faction’s strategy to strengthen the party ahead of the next general election cycle.
He added that delegates would deliberate on the future direction of the party, review its internal democratic structures, and oversee the emergence of members of the National Working Committee, NWC.
“The convention will also provide a platform for discussions on national development, political inclusion, grassroots mobilisation, and the need to build a stronger democratic alternative capable of addressing Nigeria’s pressing challenges,” the statement said.
The event is scheduled to take place at A-Class Garden in Wuse 2, Abuja, and is expected to begin at 3:00pm.
The development comes amid ongoing realignments and coalition talks among political parties ahead of the 2027 elections.
