Former Minister of Transportation,, has dismissed claims that he entered the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential race to later emerge as a vice-presidential candidate.
Speaking during an interview on Trust TV on Monday, the former Rivers State governor insisted that he purchased the ADC presidential form to contest for the presidency, not to negotiate for a secondary position.
Amaechi, who addressed the growing contest over the ADC presidential ticket, said the party should adopt a transparent process if it intends to produce a consensus candidate.
“If the ADC wants consensus, then there should be a meeting. If the aspirants don’t agree, everybody should go to the primaries,” he said.
He added: “Please stop that. I didn’t buy the ADC presidential ticket to become Vice President.”
Amaechi had earlier challenged former Vice President to face party primaries after Atiku reportedly said he did not believe in zoning.
