…says power will return to a Pan-Nigerian, not recycled politicians
…predicts humiliating loss for Atiku-led alliance in 2027

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ayekooto Akindele, has fired shots at the opposition’s newly-formed alliance, insisting that even a merger between Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai, and known terrorists would not guarantee them victory in the 2027 presidential election.

Akindele, in a fiery Facebook post, dismissed the influence of the former Vice President and ex-Kaduna State governor, warning that they should never be allowed near the corridors of power when it rotates to the North.

“By the time power will shift to the North in 2031, it will be in the hands of a Pan-Nigerian politician. People like Atiku, El-Rufai must never come near power again,” Akindele wrote.
“If Atiku and El-Rufai like, let them merge with Shekau and Turji, they will lose abysmally in 2027.”

His statement comes in reaction to a political coalition recently unveiled by Atiku Abubakar, which reportedly includes Labour Party’s former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and El-Rufai, who recently dumped the APC for the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

The alliance, according to Atiku, is aimed at unseating President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

El-Rufai, in his exit remarks, cited APC’s alleged erosion of internal democracy under Tinubu’s leadership. Meanwhile, Adewale Adebayo, former SDP presidential candidate, confirmed that talks are ongoing to absorb Atiku, Obi, and other notable figures into the SDP.

Adebayo added that if the defectors align with SDP’s ideals, they could “retire Tinubu and the APC.”

However, Akindele remains unconvinced, stressing that the electorate has outgrown old political figures and gimmicks.
