The Court of Appeal has affirmed the legality and transparency of the Ekiti State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary, effectively resolving a leadership and candidacy dispute that had unsettled the party ahead of the 2026 election.

In a Thursday ruling, the appellate court overturned the judgment of the Federal High Court in Ado-Ekiti, which had on January 13, 2026, nullified the PDP primary conducted on November 8 and 9, 2025.

The court specifically stated that the primary election organised by the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki was lawful, transparent, and properly conducted. The ruling confirms Oluyede as the rightful PDP governorship candidate for the upcoming Ekiti State election.

Dissatisfied with the lower court’s judgment, the PDP had filed an appeal seeking to set aside the nullification. With the Court of Appeal’s decision, the party is now expected to move forward with Oluyede as its candidate, marking a significant step in stabilising its preparations for the 2026 governorship contest.
