Babatunji Wusu –
Samuel Anyanwu, the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate in Imo State, has refuted rumors that he has resigned in favor of All Progressives Congress governor Hope Uzodimma.
Social media users shared a video on Thursday night claiming Anyanwu had chosen to support Uzodimma instead of competing in the race.
However, Anyanwu called the video fraudulent.
The people of the state were advised to ignore the phony film in a statement released on Friday by his spokeswoman, Ikenna Onuoha.
The statement says, “Our attention has been drawn to a trending video on social media that allegedly claims that Senator Samuel Anyanwu, also known as Samdaddy, has withdrawn as the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate in the Saturday, November 11 off-season election in Imo state.
“This video was made in an inane, disgusting, and sheepish manner by the outgoing Governor Uzodimma to mislead the people. It is not only a phony, blatant lie from the bowels of hell, but it is also exceedingly mischievous, silly, and misleading.
“A comprehensive examination of the aforementioned film reveals that it was unlawfully altered and overlaid by these miscreants to accommodate the political views of Uzodimma and his party. Please disregard this bogus information as Senator Anyanwu has nearly won this race and has never withdrawn.
“The fact is that Uzodimma, who has grown spiritually and physically parched since Imo people began jeering him, faces a serious danger from Senator Samuel Anyanwu and the PDP candidate.
It’s critical to convey to Uzodimma and his allies that they will be defeated on Saturday and that no amount of extortion or deceptive propaganda can turn the tide.
“In this election, Senator Samuel Anyanwu is still a contender to defeat. He is clearly leading the race and is not going to consider pulling out of a competition in which more than 70% of onlookers believe he will win.
