The Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘A’ of the Nigeria Customs Service has seized 17 cars, various commodities, and 13 trailer loads of imported parboiled rice, with an approximate value of N1,241,777,700.

On Wednesday, November 8, the commission disclosed this in a message posted on their official X Twitter.

This was disclosed in a press briefing held at the Unit’s headquarters in Lagos on Tuesday by Hussein Ejibunu, the Acting Comptroller of the Unit.

According to the statement, “Ejibunu explained during the demonstration of the seizure that the 17 vehicles were taken from smugglers who sought to evade the law, emphasizing that the Federal Operation Unit Zone ‘A’ under his supervision will make the remaining portion of the year more difficult for smugglers in the interest of the Country.”

“Other seizures for the month under review include 14,825 litres of premium motor spirit, 657 pieces of used tyres, 202kg of cannabis sativa, 39 bales of second-hand clothing,100 packs of tomato ketchup, four units of used motorcycles, 100 cartons of used soaps, and 730 sacks of hides & skin,” the statement continued.

Nine individuals were detained during the anti-smuggling operations, according to the acting comptroller, some of them were still being prosecuted in separate states within the zone.

Ejibunu urged patriotic and well-intentioned Nigerians to keep providing the unit with reliable information to help against economic sabotage.
