t of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has mourned the death of globally respected Islamic scholar and spiritual leader, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, who passed away early Thursday morning.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau described the late scholar’s passing as “a huge vacuum that will be difficult to fill,” noting that Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi’s influence extended far beyond Nigeria.
He hailed the cleric’s decades of unwavering service to Islam, humanity, and the spiritual development of millions across the world.
“I mourn the passing of our renowned Islamic scholar and leader, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi — a great icon of Islamic scholarship whose light shone on millions of Muslims across Nigeria and beyond,” he said.
He highlighted the scholar’s dedication to the Qur’an, his stewardship of the Tijaniyya movement, his continuous preaching, and his extensive
humanitarian and educational contributions, including the establishment of Qur’anic schools and outreach initiatives.
According to him, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi was “more than a scholar — he was a father, teacher, and guide to millions,” adding that his moral leadership and commitment to advancing Islamic education were “a beacon that shaped generations.”
Senator Barau, who also serves as the First Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, extended sincere condolences to the family, followers, and students of the late scholar, as well as the entire Muslim Ummah.
He prayed that Allah (SWT) forgive the deceased’s shortcomings, admit him into Jannatul Firdaus, and comfort those he left behind.
