The national leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has declared that the party remains united and free from the internal crises that have plagued several political parties in Nigeria.

Dickson made the declaration during the party’s first national convention in Abuja on Saturday, insisting that the NDC has no factions or pending legal battles threatening its stability.

“There is currently no legal case or appeal against the NDC. There are no groups fighting each other, and everyone is free to contest for any leadership position ahead of the 2027 election,” he said.

He also argued that attempts to undermine the party amounted to a violation of constitutional rights to freedom of association.

The development comes as former presidential candidates, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, officially joined the party, strengthening its political profile ahead of the 2027 general election.

Their entry into the NDC has fuelled speculation that both politicians could emerge as the party’s presidential flag bearer and running mate for the 2027 race.

Meanwhile, the NDC has zoned its presidential ticket to Southern Nigeria as part of preparations for the next presidential election.
