Former member of the House of Representatives and Rivers State governorship aspirant, Dr Farah Dagogo, has denied suing the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over its Rivers State governorship primary.
Dagogo also threatened legal action against individuals who published and circulated reports claiming that he challenged the primary in court and that the case was dismissed.
In a statement he personally signed on Monday, Dagogo described the reports circulating on social media and other platforms as false, misleading and unauthorised.
He said he neither filed a lawsuit against the ADC nor instructed any lawyer to institute legal proceedings on his behalf.
“For the avoidance of doubt, I wish to state categorically that I, Dr Farah Dagogo, never instituted any suit against the ADC, whether in respect of its Rivers State governorship primary or any other matter concerning the party,” he said.
Furthermore, Dagogo challenged those behind the reports to provide evidence of the alleged court case.
He requested the suit number, the name and location of the court, the filing date and the identity of the lawyer who allegedly handled the matter.
He also demanded certified copies of the court documents and any orders reportedly issued in the case.
Dagogo warned that freedom of expression should not be used to fabricate court proceedings or falsely attribute legal actions to individuals.
He reaffirmed his commitment to democratic principles and the rule of law. He also urged his supporters, political associates and members of the public to disregard the reports and avoid sharing unverified information.
The former lawmaker maintained that his political activities and governorship ambition would continue despite the reports.
He described the publications as attempts to misrepresent his actions and create controversy in Rivers State.
