By Rejoice Peterside| The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command has organized an intensive forensic and fraud investigation training programme for its personnel and selected stakeholders as part of efforts to strengthen investigative capacity and improve professionalism within the force.

The one-day training, held on 8th June, 2026, at the Police Resource Centre, Jabi, Abuja, brought together officers for practical and theoretical sessions focused on modern investigative methods used in tackling complex criminal cases, particularly financial and cyber-related fraud.

The programme was organized by the FCT Police Command in collaboration with HRH, Erelu Dr. Pearl Chidinma Ogbulu through Pearl Forensic Risk Advisory Services, with the approval of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

Declaring the session open, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, PhD., FCAI, commended the initiative and described it as timely in view of evolving security challenges and increasingly sophisticated criminal activities.

He urged participating officers to maximize the opportunity by acquiring relevant skills that would improve their investigative efficiency and strengthen the criminal justice system.

According to him, modern policing requires continuous learning, innovation, and adaptability to new and emerging crime patterns.

“The complexity of crime today demands that our officers remain proactive, well-trained, and equipped with modern forensic tools and techniques,” the Commissioner said.

CP Sanusi emphasized that effective forensic investigation and proper handling of evidence remain critical to successful prosecution of criminal cases.

The training featured comprehensive presentations and practical sessions covering forensic investigation, fraud detection, evidence management, investigative procedures, and other key aspects of criminal investigation.

Participants were exposed to best practices aimed at improving operational efficiency, enhancing accuracy in investigations, and ensuring stronger case building for prosecution.

At the end of the programme, participants were awarded Certificates of Participation in recognition of their successful completion of the training.

The FCT Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to continuous capacity building, stating that such initiatives are essential to strengthening policing standards and improving public safety within the Federal Capital Territory.
