Meta Description: FCTA dismissed claims that a court order suspended environmental health enforcement and food safety prosecution activities across the Federal Capital Territory.

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has denied reports claiming that a court order stopped environmental health enforcement and food safety prosecution activities across Abuja.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the FCTA Public Health Department described the circulating reports as false and misleading. The statement was signed by the department’s Legal Officer at the Health and Human Services Secretariat, Idris Suleiman.

According to the department, the court order being circulated online was wrongly interpreted and does not affect the agency’s wider operations.

The FCTA Public Health Department explained that the ruling was delivered by Justice Yusuf Halilu of the FCT High Court in Motion No. M/7935/2026 involving a suit filed by H-Medix Pharmacy Limited against the FCTA Health and Human Services Secretariat and six others.

Officials clarified that the order only restrained further court sittings related specifically to the applicant in the case and did not stop broader enforcement activities within the Federal Capital Territory.

“The ruling did not suspend or halt the overall enforcement activities of the Public Health Department,” the statement said.

The administration urged residents, traders, and business owners to ignore claims suggesting that environmental sanitation enforcement and food safety court proceedings had been suspended across the territory.

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) also assured the public that it remains committed to protecting public health standards and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations throughout Abuja.

“The department remains committed to ensuring public safety by upholding the highest environmental and public health standards and ensuring compliance with these standards,” the statement added.

Authorities further confirmed that departmental offices remain open while prosecution of offenders and regular court sittings continue as scheduled.
